AAFF 48th Promo Video
That’s right its that time of year again for the Ann Arbor Film Festival. The longest running experimental film festival is in its 48th year and stronger then ever. For the third year in a row I have animated the trailer for the festival. This year the trailer is one of my personal favorites just in terms of how complex the project was in terms of animating so many layers. I estimate over 600+ layers were used in the project. The Great Design by Ryan Molloy was a blast to animate, the audio track by JDSY makes the graphics come to life! Although I think I need a new computer if I plan on rendering out these large 1080p HD videos.
Enjoy, and don’t forget to buy your advanced passes for the Festival!

Ann Arbor is the Same – Shigeto (Visuals for Live Set)
This video was crated as a background for Shigeto for live music performances on his upcoming tour. Just image someone playing real drums along to this music, then the experience is complete.

47th Ann Arbor Film Festival Animation
I had the joy of animating this years promotion video for the Ann Arbor film Festival again. This years slogan is “welcome to the new world of independent cinema“. Ryan designed a very detailed Map for the campaign that I brought to life in this animation. Music outtakes from The Life Aquatic sound track were provided by Mark Mothersbaugh from DEVO.

46th Ann Arbor Film Festival TV spot
I had the joy of creating the animated TV spot for the 46th Ann Arbor Film Festival.
This video aired on local TV and in the Michigan Theater to promote the festival. It was an especially hard hit year for the festival due to the funding cut form the Michigan government.
The Festival’s logo and visual concept for the 46th festival are the work of Raul Peña. Music and sound design by Steve Dannemiller

Suppen Kasper
After creating The story of Little Suck-a-Thumb (Daumenlutscher) I decided I wanted to animate another story from the Struwwelpeter book. But this time instead of paper cutouts I wanted to animate the actual illustrations from the original book. Using the new Puppet tool in After Effects I was able to create a creepy dance to the character. JDSY over dubed the audio and helped me break some plates for SFX. The music was composed by Steve Dannemiller.

Brael – Blue Field
A music video for the song Blue Field by the band Brael that unfortunately was never completed due to an alien invasion of Martin’s brain. It now exists as the opening video for the bands website.
